How your loss limit moves after market close, with a day-by-day example

What is End of Day Drawdown?

On the Rapid Elite Plan, your loss limit moves up once a day, after market close, based on your end-of-day equity. It doesn't move during the day, and it never moves down.

Loss limit = Highest end-of-day equity − Maximum drawdown

Your loss limit still applies at every moment of the day. If your equity, including open trades, reaches your loss limit during the day, your account is breached.

Worked Example: $100,000 Account

Maximum drawdown is $3,000, so your loss limit starts at $97,000.

What to notice:

  • On Day 1, your loss limit moved to $99,000 based on the $102,000 close, not the $103,000 high during the day.

  • On Day 2, your equity fell but your loss limit stayed at $99,000. It never moves down.

  • On Day 4, the account was breached the moment your equity reached $101,250, even though it was the middle of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my account be breached during the day?

Yes. End of day drawdown only changes when your loss limit moves up. If your equity, including open trades, reaches your loss limit at any moment, the account is breached.

Does a high during the day move my loss limit?

No. Only your end-of-day equity counts.

Can my loss limit go back down?

No. It only moves up, even if you lose money afterward.

Does my loss limit reset overnight?

No. It carries over to the next day. If you have a $3,000 maximum drawdown and you're down $2,000 at the close, you start the next day with only $1,000 of room.

Where can I see my current loss limit?

Check your Vanquish dashboard, and track your open positions in DxTrade to manage your risk.

Does my loss limit ever stop trailing?

Yes, on a Performance Account. Once your end-of-day equity reaches the Buffer, your loss limit locks permanently. See Rapid Elite Plan - Buffer.
